History of "The Stinger"

(taken from The Stinger 1970)

The Linville High School "Stinger" has been the name of our school yearbook since its first publication in 1950. This first edition was edited under the direction of Mrs. Willard Taylor. Foreground for the yearbook was layd by Principal J. G. Jones in the fall of '49. During this time Taylor Publishing Company was selected as publishers and they have continued to serve us through the years.

The first editions of the yearbook covered only the front side of the page but since that time we now use both sides of the pages.

Mrs. Virginia Allen, commerce teacher, served as the yearbook typist for several years until students of the staff took over the job.

Representatives from each class in high school were the members of the staff until '53 when it was decided that the senior class would be in charge of the publication.

The progress of our school through the years has helped bring bigger and better yearbooks.

Since the first yearbook was published, the L.H.S. annuals have changed in size, added colored endsheets and improved in some way each year.

Students of L.H.S. and its alumni are proud of the "Stinger."
